Thinking straight about synthetic lawn

Recently we have noticed a plethora of fly-by-night contractors and cheap imported products flooding the market. We are suddenly met with competitors that have no scruples, and the guarantee period counts for nothing as they will not be in business by the time the guarantee period ends.

We are suddenly being questioned about how we can charge so much for an installation, as there are people charging as low as R99/m², installed! For those people who have not done their homework and can’t do the maths, please note it is impossible to install a decent quality synthetic lawn even close to R99. This is not because we are trying to make excessive profit on our contracts, it is simply because the materials required to do a proper installation that will stand the test of time cost way more than that.

We also have other expenses that a one-man “bakkie brigade” doesn’t have. UIF, PAYE, Workmen’s Compensation, insurance on our workmanship, our vehicles, goods-in-transit, to name a few. Ask yourself, what happens if the person installing your grass has an accident with the product on their vehicle? The product you’ve paid for already... Our staff also get a higher wage than most, as their workmanship is of high quality.

We are not aiming at clients who enquire on local social pages such as “I know a Guy” – we do not want to compete with these same contractors that will not be around if something goes wrong. In fact, we have begun being the company that people turn to when disastrous artificial lawn installations have to be fixed up – unfortunately at a cost. Not all products were intended for our local conditions. We have removed disasters imported from the Far East that were installed cheaply less than two years previously.

We value competition, but we also value clients and the public who do not want to fall for these budget synthetic lawn installations, and we will be here in years to come to ensure that our service guarantee is in place. Choose a company that has been around longer than the guarantee period on the product to ensure that you are dealing with a reputable synthetic lawn installer.
