Portfolio: latest gardens
The slope of this garden used to be the same as the driveway, which we repaved in cobble to modernize it. We built a circular retaining wall that wraps around the house, creating a level lawn area. Before this, the entire garden was unlivable as there was no level area.
We built the slate pillars as an entrance to the home, designing special enclaves for the Anton Smit "Sentinel" sculptures. The pathway crosses the level lawn area, creating an axis from the front door that leads to the driveway. The Anton Smit sculpture within the garden is visible from the dining room.
We totally renovated the bathroom, building on an extra 1.5 m of space within the bathroom, adding the bathroom courtyard with space for planting, and the glass walls looking out onto this. A new spa-bath was installed, with a glass shower and sliding door opening onto the courtyard. The counter with new basins and the vanity was designed and built by us. The mirrors on the courtyard wall were installed to create the illusion of space, because they give the effect of windows in the wall. |
